Care

Wool & Leather Care

Our Lambskins are crafted with care & Love. You will be able to enjoy your Lambskin for many years, provided you follow the care instructions carefully.

Due to the natural lanolin in the wool, genuine Lambskin tends to be self-cleaning. Daily airing will keep your Lambskin fresh and help maintain its self-cleaning properties.

Your carefully selected Lambskin may have been tightly packaged for the journey home and so the wool may appear flattened. Wool fibers are very resilient and will bounce back to their original springy appearance.

A vigorous shake will also help restore the soft, fluffy appearance of the wool. Any fold marks from packaging will disappear once the skin has been removed from the package for several days.

Storage

Should you wish to store your Lambskin at any time, place it in a cool airy place avoiding direct sunlight. Packaging in plastic bags or box for an extended period of time is not recommended as the Lambskin fibers will not breathe and condensation may occur in warm conditions.

Whilst we endeavor to provide helpful information, washing and drying of Lambskin is done at your risk and we cannot be held responsible for unforeseen damage that may occur.

Washing

Should a Lambskin come into contact with urine, it should be washed as soon as possible after soiling to maximize the life of the Lambskin.

Our unique tanning processes enables your Lambskin to be easily hand washed. It is important NOT to use hot water when washing Lambskin as this may damage the pelt of the Lambskin.

Hand Washing/Machine Washing

Do not use soap or washing powders containing enzymes or bleach, or which are alkaline. Do not use fabric softeners or Woollite.  Use the 'delicate' cycle on your washing machine. Use bicarbonate of soda or an eco soap* Rinse thoroughly in cold water. Hand squeeze as much water from the Lambskin as possible or lightly spin in the washing machine.

Do not use soap or washing powders containing enzymes or bleach. Do not use Woollite or softeners.

Drying

The Lambskin may be tumble dried on the 'cool' setting. Do not use 'hot' setting as excessive heat may damage the Lambskin. Alternatively, hang the Lambskin flat outside to dry naturally, avoiding direct sunlight.

Take care not to place the Lambskin on a radiator, steam pipe or in front of a fan heater as this may damage the Lambskin. Do not iron or bleach the Lambskin.

Brushing

After washing, the wool may revert back to its natural curly state. You can help restore the fluffy appearance by brushing the wool while it is wet and again when it is dry. A wire pet brush or comb is suitable.

Note that natural white color Lambskin can yellow with age, this can't be reversed.

The leather might seem to firm up after the 1st few washes, just continue using it as normal.

Dry Cleaning

The Lambskin can also be professionally dry-cleaned at own risk.
